作者简介

THEODOR SEUSS GEISEL—aka Dr. Seuss—is one of the most beloved children’s book authors of all time. From The Cat in the Hat to Oh, the Places You’ll Go!, his iconic characters, stories, and art style have been a lasting influence on generations of children and adults. The books he wrote and illustrated under the name Dr. Seuss (and others that he wrote but did not illustrate, including some under the pseudonyms Theo. LeSieg and Rosetta Stone) have been translated into thirty languages. Hundreds of millions of copies have found their way into homes and hearts around the world. Dr. Seuss’s long list of awards includes Caldecott Honors for McElligot’s Pool, If I Ran the Zoo, and Bartholomew and the Oobleck, the Pulitzer Prize, and eight honorary doctorates. Works based on his original stories have won three Oscars, three Emmys, three Grammys, and a Peabody. Dr. Seuss's never-before-seen picture book What Pet Should I Get? will be published on July 28, 2015. The rediscovered book captures a classic childhood moment—the selection of a pet—and uses it to illustrate a life-lesson: that it is hard to make up your mind, but that sometimes you just have to do it!

Brand new book. I've collected all the 7 books of this series already.
The pictures are attractive, the stories can be easily understood by kids.
My son love them.

My mother really likes the big orange book of beginner books. You also have a blue, purple and a green book of beginners. We think these books should be numbered so people can know which book should be read first. We believe that the orange should be read 1st. Not the blue book. But my mother really likes these books. She get really excited when she reads. She can't believe she can read english.

This is one of my favorite Dr. Seuss stories. Even if the copy had arrived in horrible condition and taken forever to get to me, it couldn't have earned less than four stars simply for being a favorite story. However, the copy delivered to me was perfect, the story just as I remembered and my daughter, now four, enjoys it immensely; she references it when we go fishing at our local park. I love the enthusiasm and optimism that Marco (the protagonist) brings to fishing in a farm pond. The binding quality is good, as well, and barring bad behavior--children are known to occasionally suffer from lapses in judgement--I anticipate it lasting long enough for her to read to her own children one day.

In about thirty or forty years.

I'm not sure why the pages alternative between full-color and black and white (literally every other page is completely colorless)... I'm still rating 4-stars because of the quality of the story, though. Excellent lesson for children and adults alike.

This book is one of my all-time favorites and I have now bought the book for the library of a young relative. I first read it a couple years after it was originally published in 1947. Perhaps it meant so much to me because I lived on a farm that had ponds and streams, and what better way to spend a summer afternoon than to lie at the edge of pond or creek and imagine where that water might go, and what one might find.

The rhymes may not be great poetry, but they are not meant to be. They are catchy and roll along, easy to read and to say. The illustrations are terrific. A few folks fuss that some of the illustrations are black and white. That's just the way many books were back then. If disappointed, add your own color.

It is hard to be objective about a book that so captured my fancy, and perhaps my review is merely a way of saying thank you to Dr. Seuss for a lifelong delight.

No matter what body of water I may be near, I can still hear from the deeps the sound of the fish that go "glurk".
