This may be a children's book, but as an adult, I enjoy the hilarious antics of the animal characters in this work of fiction that the author originally wrote for his own children. I like the cover on this one. Toad's expensive motor car is his pride and joy and he races about the English countryside in it, getting into trouble. Since it also an analogy on the human condition, it's story is also a comment on all of mankind's piccadillios (spelling?). This one's a keeper, because you can laugh all over again by re-reading it in years to come. I'm putting this in the library of a retirement home, where I know it will be appreciated!
I was very pleased with the book...and my grand daughter loves it too.This was the first time to try the Classic Starters I was not disappointed.
Although my kids have not made it through all the classical series set of books we've purchased I can say the yard beautiful books, well made & a wonderful addition to our homeschool library!
Love this book because it teaches how to be a good friend.
