I loved this book because it was exilarating when Charles Lindbergh, the main character, was about to take off from new york to Paris without landing! One of my favorite parts was when the king of England asked Lindbergh "Tell me,how did you pee?" (during the flight).
I bought this book as a birthday present for an eight year old down the street who is aviation-obsessed. I hadn't planned to read it myself, but once I started, I could not put it down. Did you know Lindbergh had four near-death airborne experiences before he decided to risk the trans-Atlantic crossing? That he taught himself about navigation by spending long lonely hours reading in the public library? This was one brave, determined dude. I love the way the author of this book chooses only the juiciest facts and relates them in short, clear sentences that move along at a nice clip. The chapters are short, too, and they all end on an exciting note. Fascinating history, well told for any age reader, in my opinion!
This is an absolutely wonderful book, a great story compellingly told with illuminating and delightful illustrations. It is a gripping retelling of a great story and will should grab the attention of the most reluctant reader. Highly recommended!
