Team of Teams: New Rules of Engagement for a Complex World |
内容简介:
When General Stanley McChrystal took command of the Joint Special Operations Task Force in Iraq in 2003, he quickly realized that conventional military tactics were failing. The allied forces had a huge advantage in numbers, equipment and training - but none of the enemy's speed and flexibility.
McChrystal and his colleagues discarded a century of conventional wisdom to create a 'team of teams' that combined extremely transparent communication with decentralized decision-making authority. Faster, flatter and more flexible, the task force beat back al-Qaeda.
In this powerful book, McChrystal and his colleagues show how the challenges they faced in Iraq can be relevant to any leader. Through compelling examples, the authors demonstrate that the 'team of teams' strategy has worked everywhere from hospital emergency rooms to NASA and has the potential to transform organizations large and small.
作者简介:
Stanley McChrystal's last assignment was commanding all U.S. and international forces in Afghanistan. Previously, he was the director of the Joint Staff and the commander of the Joint Special Operations Command. The author of My Share of the Task, he is currently a senior fellow at Yale's Jackson Institute for Global Affairs and cofounder of the McChrystal Group, a leadership consulting firm where Tantum Collins, David Silverman and Chris Fussell are his colleagues.
网友对Team of Teams: New Rules of Engagement for a Complex World的评论
在管理和领导力书籍中的时代标杆代表,个人认为80年代的是Tom Peters写的“成功之路”(In Search of Excellence),90年代是Stephen Covey写的“杰出领导者的七个习惯”(7 Habits of Highly Effective Leaders),00年代是Jimmy Collins写的“从优秀到卓越”(From Good to Great),10年代可以把“Team of Teams"列为其中的一本标杆。
Team of Teams使用了美国军队变革为载体,给企业领导者提供了一个站在当下,从高度思考未来的”道“层面的氧气。
非常期待中文版的尽早出刊。
This book is really fascinating! The complex situation is exactly what we are facing, and the solution presented a good option.
Although I have no military experience, I found that the stories, examples, and concepts were very accessible when weaved together in the context of the private sector challenges that anyone faces. As a human resource professional, I work for a private investment company that struggles with getting the managers of international offices, located in several countries, to work together intelligently. Our challenge is to achieve transparency when working on projects although we are on different time zones and have different organizational cultures. The theory presented in this book to work toward leading leaders is helpful for this context. I recommend this novel to anyone because it is not only engaging, but also helpful for any group looking to achieve organizational change.
It's common to see success in one arena parlayed into another "how to be a success like me in your life" book. While this does have arresting first person stories, they interweave with dense research from psychology, organizational behavior, network theory and systems thinking. Scholar warrior applies here. Considering the martial capabilities of the authors, the tone is remarkably humble. This is a work that should have timeless relevance to the marshalling of our most important resource - human energy.
