CATHERINE MARSTON: At nine o'clock tonight, the eyes of the world will be on this brand new 110 million stadium here in Manchester. As the gates opened, the audience could hardly wait to get inside. Thousands bought their tickets months ago, just to make sure they have a good seat. The de- tails of the ceremony have been kept a closely guarded secret, and that's whipped up enthusiasm and speculation.
WOMAN: Really exciting. I just can't wait ...
