I have chosen desktop Ubuntu 12.04 LTS version. I think it is more stable and trusted.

2. install

The installation process is very simple and quite easier than windows. You can install ubuntu desktop though DVD or USB stick. The latter is more convenient and I recommend the latter way more. There are guides for them on desktop download page.

There is another very cool way to try Ubuntu. You even can run Ubuntu installation exe file though your windows7, after that it will leave an uninstall to you.
