  Do you always say that you should learn how to cook but just do not have the time? Indeed, in this fast-paced life, it is hard for people to find the time learning to cook, although they might always be looking ways to find it easier to fit cooking into their stressful schedules. No one is born a home chef, one learns by doing during one’s free time to relax and make life happy, among other benefits.

  To begin with, learning to cook can relieve stress because it serves as a creative outlet for recreation. While stress from work or study can numb one’s senses, actually cooking can activate them. It is a sensory exposing aroma, taste, touch, visual delight and even sizzling sound. The good news is that one can learn cooking from scratch and have something fresh and edible on the table. While listening to the favorite music, one can relax with some measure of creativity as cooking is a wonderful way to engage the senses into a feel-good mood, which means that cooking as a pastime is recreational. In this respect, learning to cook is like learning a new sport or even learning to hand-make clothing or jewelry, when one is able to clear all stress-related matters out of mind so one can focus on something relaxing and enjoyable. In short, the labor of the hands, the doing of cooking and things in the kitchen prove to be amazingly stress reducing, as if it is to cook away stress.

  Psychologically speaking, cooking, as a way of nurturing the mind, makes life happy. It is not wrong to say that part of home happiness is made in the heart of the home: the kitchen. Psychologists say that time spent in the kitchen can promote mental wellbeing associated with joy and satisfaction, while cooking is clearly a means to satisfy the body’s need for food, of course. With cooking as a hobby, one can benefit from the therapeutic qualities leading to a feeling of subjective happiness. For example, one feels happy when one’s cooking experiment turns out to be a success. This is especially true when one is cooking for family and friends who are surprised at the experimental meals. So, it is rewarding to choose cooking as a foundational life skill, being aware that cooking has the magic to bring happiness even without one’s being a great cook. After all, people have a right to be healthy and happy, and cooking can help take them there if they manage to have a small amount of time.

  In conclusion, given some leisure time, one can learn to cook like a home chef as a way to feel relaxed and happy. As today’s life has become increasingly stressful, it is beneficial learning to cook, for that purpose. To say that one does not have the time to learn cooking should not be an excuse.
