You can learn something useful from anyone, depending on what you need to know. In comparison, "soft" knowledge gained through studying is desirable, but "hard" knowledge obtained through doing is invaluable. There is indeed much to be learned from an educated person; however, it does not follow that an uneducated person has nothing to teach an educated person.
On the one hand, good education matters to being a teacher in the common sense of the word. It is because an educated person who has learned through schooling commands a good standard of knowledge related to various academic studies. Accordingly, he or she may have sufficient academic knowledge in a specific field to share with less learned people. Such knowledge being academic power, it is hard to underestimate the importance of an educated person as a teacher. Generally speaking, an educated person has learned what some call "soft skills"--complex problem-solving, critical thinking, the desire to be life-long learners, among other abilities, of which a typically uneducated person does not feel particularly proud. After all, an educated person can better fit into the modern world as a teacher.
On the other hand, while studying for "soft skills" is always good, the practical experience of "hard skills" through doing is sometimes better. It may be seen, in some cases, that an unschooled person can teach that kind of knowledge which is not usually contained in academic books. To illustrate, non-academic life skills that are traditionally less experienced by educated people range from cooking to hunting to fishing. Precisely, a similar conception was explained by Confucius in the "Analects" on the subjects of farming and gardening. There was one Fan Chih who wanted to learn how to farm, and to this question the Great Master said, "I am not so good for that as an old farmer". The same student requested also to be taught gardening, and was answered, "I am not so good for that as an old gardener".
As a conclusion, it is far from right to think that an uneducated person has nothing to teach an educated person. It is something that you may learn from an educated person, and it is another different thing that you may learn from an uneducated person. Whether being educated or uneducated, anyone can teach you useful skills. (Essay by Jeenn Lee Hsieh ielts360toef@hotmail.com pigai zuowen)
