Many people have a close relationship with their pets. These people treat their birds, cats or other animals as members of their family. In your opinion, are such relationships good? Why or why not? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Example Writing: A 5-paragraph essay
1>When choosing a pet, a dog may be the most favorite animal for many people, and almost for the same reasons. So much so, many people treat their dogs (more than their birds, cats or other animals) like their family members. A dog would make a great pet for you because dogs are loyal, they are easy to train, and they are good company.
2>One of the great things about dogs is that they are extremely faithful. Dogs are always happy to see you when you are back from school or work, for example. Your dog runs to the door, wagging its tail, jumping up, and turning around in circles. Unlike humans, dogs seem never getting mad or complaining, but always cheering you up. They could not care less if your bed is not clean or if you have had a bad day as your dog loves you, no matter what. In addition, the loyalty of a dog is not political; and it does not matter whether you are rich or poor, healthy or sick. And as such, not even a powerful king can order a dog unless the one is his.
3>Another great characteristic is that they can be trained to do things. It is a known fact that a dog can learn several basic commands and obey you without asking why. To illustrate, in most cases an ordinary dog can be taught to sit, stay and dance, not to mention police dogs that are used to track missing persons or fugitives. Usually, you can teach a dog (new or old) a number of funny tricks. Therefore, it should come as no surprise when an aged dog could manage to stand on a barrel and roll it across the living room, and make you laugh. Besides, an trained dog at home is supposed to be good at safeguarding your backyard, if only by doing nothing more than barking at strangers. When you are in good mood, there is so much fun that you might believe that keeping a dog could help you live longer.
4>Last but not least, a dog can offer good companionship. Your dog can go places with you, for instance, running in a park. Or, a dog can be just near you--reading, or watching TV, or listening to music, or doing nothing at all. Other times, in silence a dog would come to you when you are being bored or worrying about something. Perhaps the best part is that you could choose to talk to your dog as if it were a human, whereas your dog would listen to whatever you have to say. And it is true that, unlike a human being, a dog would keep your secrets and would never tell anybody anything, not even for a million dollars.
5>In conclusion, it is clear that no other kind of pets can compare with a dog's dedication, intelligence and friendship. Jokingly, getting a dog is probably the only chance you can choose a relative. Due to good relationships between humans and dogs, you might as well think that a house is not a home until you keep a dog.
