In order to terminate this unfortunate trend, governments have to raise public awareness of the significance of basic science, and provide science professionals with more appreciation and increased financial rewards. Meanwhile, schools can also augment the emphasis of assessing basic science subjects, such as physics and chemistry to increase students'interests.
In conclusion, apart from the importance of basic science and their less-paid professionals, the causes of the ignorance of basic science are numerous but obvious. I am convinced that measures, including efforts by governments and schools should be taken to provide solutions to this issue.
