>Colleagues are the people who work with us. In your opinion, what are the qualities of a good colleague? Use specific details and examples in your answer.
Sample Essay:
It is as lucky to have a good co-worker as unfortunate to have a bad one. The good colleague can be classified into many categories, all of which are associated with the core virtue of kindness. Obviously, the desirable colleague must be a helpful and respectful person.
The helpful colleague is there in a number of situations. For instance, if one's vehicle is not working satisfactorily, the colleague may offer assistance at the perfect time. From hour to hour, the friendly wave from across the room can reduce stress during a long day at work. Moreover, a helpful eye around the area keeps work overload to a minimum when people help each other out. As often is the case, the needed tool or some service is readily found at the next desk. These friendly things appear small, but they add up and contribute to the great virtue of kindness.
In the workplace, respecting others is also an outstanding sign of kindness. For one thing, personal space is a luxury that most people cherish because a person always wants to see quiet time as quiet time. Indeed, there are times when people just do not want to talk but prefer to be left alone. Therefore, to respect a person's privacy means to know when not to wave, when not to come and ask for a tool, and when not to start a conversation. For that reason, the so-called 'busybodies' are rarely good colleagues. After all, mutual respect is key to friendship between any two co-workers.
Though the definitions vary, a good colleague is usually helpful and respectful at the same time. Thus, help and respect are symbols of co-workers being kind to each other. Unfortunately, however, around the world people have to deal with good and bad colleagues.
