This book is small, but chock-full of useful information about all kinds of tech shortcuts, including smartphones, computers, digital cameras, tablets, and the software and apps used by these devices. Lots of time-saving and useful tips, many which I was aware if and already use, but also a lot that I did not know, especially a lot of the keyboard shortcuts. There is even a section on social media at the end of the book, and a lot of tips on internet usage and e-mail. The author also provides some security information and ways to get around e-mail spam. I highlighted quite a bit of relevant information that I will be sure to use often!
One aspect of David Pogue is he's an entertainer,he seems to dislike boring. He proves it here with a short, concise and surprisingly entertaining handbook of tips for most of the tech in anyone's life. Smart phones, tablets and computers take priority of course but cameras and other stuff is not forgotten. I picked up several tips while enjoying the read. Some of Pogue's bigger and more complex books got me thru my initial foray into computers years ago and this is perhaps his version of a finishing school. For me and most other semi-savy tech users this is probably the last Pogue book we'll need to buy. Thank you for helping me get to that point,Mr. Pogue.
I love Pogue's writing style and miss him in the New York Times. So, I was attracted to the book on his reputation. But I found the bulk the material was dated.
I discovered a jewel of technical information here or there, but much of what Pogue covers I already knew.
Unless you are a computer novice, save your money and look elsewhere.
