The Art of the Muscle Car |
"Motorbooks will be releasing a compendium of classic car awesomeness in less than 10 days. The title? "The Art of the Muscle Car." And it's chocked-full of images and back stories galore on the best of what America has had to offer since the glory says of the muscle car's birth in the latter 1960s." - "StangNet.com"
"The art in "The Art of the Muscle Car" is Peter Harholdt's beautiful photography, showcasing 47 prime specimens of Detroit iron. Mr. Harholdt's technique, shooting mostly profiles against a black backdrop, portrays the cars as a kind of rolling Pop Art. Detail images of the cars' hood scoops, wheels, wings, badges and graphics reinforce that theme, as do the reprints of vintage ads and magazine covers." - "The New York Times ""David Newhardt, with an assist from photographer Peter Harholdt, has repeated his highly successful formula of automotive history incorporating premium-quality paper and incredibly vivid images. This huge, 240-page hardcover book profiles 47 seminal muscle cars, beginning with the 1964 Pontiac GTO and ranging on to another Pontiac, the 1974 Trans Am Super Duty 455. Each car gets a treatment of about a half-dozen huge 10 x 12-inch pages, with detail photos and period advertising. Numerous studio-quality images spill across two-page spreads and several of the stars herein are treated to lavish foldouts." - "Hemmings Muscle Machines

I bought this book as a gift for a male friend of mine whom I was perplexed as to what to get someone who knows a lot about so much and is a true renaissnace man being a psychotherapist, martial aritst, and musician and excelling in all fields. What do you get a guy like that? I found out that he likes muscle cars and when I saw this book and read the reviews I thought it would be a good risk.
Well let me say that I hit the JACKPOT!!! The book itself is ART!! It's absolutely beautiful and the collection of cars within is truly outstanding. If you are considering this book I say you can make this purchase with your eyes shut and you'll be very pleased when you open them upon its arrival.
This book has some of the best quality muscle car photos I've ever seen. Love it - it made an excellent Christmas gift. I would order more from this author.
gave as a gift, recipiant can'y put it down
Great book! Really brings out the art and styling of all aspects of 60's and 70's style cars.
