If I did not have this book, I would not be able to make a living as a copywriter. I never leave home without it. It flies with me on trips, it goes to every copy shop with me. It is my reference guide, my idea sparker, and my mindmap helper. Other books are more helpful to learn copywriting (this does not teach writing), but nothing is more helpful in sparking ideas than this one.
This is an indispensable reference book for the small business owner. Words are grouped by situation, description, etc so you can quickly find just the right word or phrase to accurately describe your service or product.
For example, say you need to eliminate customer balking and justify a high price. There happens to be a category for "Justifying A High Price," how about that? With words and phrases like:
"_____may cost more, but it's worth it."
"Isn't it better to spend a little more now, instead of a lot more later?"
"Pays for itself many times over."
"A ______ you'll be proud to own."

This book was recommended to me by one of the women in an online handmade seller group that I belong to. Online sellers constently struggle with writing powerful, catchy product descriptions and headlines and this book gives you tons of ideas to work with. Finally, a book that gets straight to the point without beating around the bush. I always thought of myself as a pretty decent writer, but as someone who normally only writes blog entries I found it hard to really market a product using descriptive words. After looking around on Amazon, I made up my mind and got "Words that Sell". As an intern in the marketing department, after using a few carefully picked words I ended up wowing my boss and improving our newsletter tremendously. As someone who is preparing to enter the marketing/advertising field, this book has proved to be an enormous resource, filled with descriptive words that can be used in many different situations.
Here's an example: Instead of saying, "new" why not try, "revolutionary" or "groundbreaking". I love it !
