They study hard.
I know them well.
She sings very well.
She sang an English song just now.
动态动词表示动作,如give, take, work, run等;静态动词表示感觉、情感、内心世界、相互关系等,如know, live, lie, exist, be, have, mean, seem, appear, sound, prove, concerns, hate, dislike, like, love, prefer, surprise, astonish, satisfy, contain, include, matter depend on, belong to, guess, suppose, imagine, believe, doubt, admire, envy等。
如rain, live, work, learn等是延续性动词,go, come, leave, start, arrive, join, finish, end等是非延续性动词。
He has left here for three days.
[正]He has been away from here for three days.
[正]He left here three days ago.
[正]It’s three days since he left.
The room needs cleaning.
e.g.A)He raised his glass and said: "Your health, Carl."
B)They are going to raise funds for the school buildings.
C)Raise your right hand.
e.g.A)The sun has not yet risen.
B)The river rises in the mountains.
Shall I begin at once?
She began working as a librarian after she left school.
When did they leave Chicago?
They left last week.
Wash your hands before meals.
Does this cloth wash well?
We arrived at the railway station at noon. (at不能省去)(比较:We reached the railway station at noon.)
Everybody listened to the lecture with great interest. (to不可省去)(比较:We all heard the lecture.)
Do they agree to the plan?
Our children are taught to serve the people wholeheartedly.
—Do you believe what he says?
—Yes,it __________ be true.
A. can B. could C. need D. has to
He is in poor health. He can be ill at any time.
Even experts can make mistakes.
My mother could be very unpleasant at times.
We could [may, might] go to Japan this summer.
误:We can go to Japan this summer.
You could [may,might] be right,but I don’t think you are.
误:You can be right,but I don’t think you are.
It can’t be true.
What can he possibly want?
1. “Is John coming by train?” “He should, but he ________ not. He likes driving his car.”
A. must B. can C. need D. may
may 表推测,may not 意为“可能不(会坐火车来)”。句中的 He should 为 He should come by train 之省略,由于其后出现转折连词 but,说明语意有变化,再结合下文的 He likes driving his car,便可决定此题选D。
2. “I heard they went skiing in the mountains last winter.” “It ____ true because there was little snow there.”
A. may not be B. won’t be C. couldn’t be D. mustn’t be
此题最佳答案为C,主要由下文的 because there was little snow there 这一语境所决定,既然“没下什么雪”,那么“滑雪”就应是“不可能”,所以选 couldn’t be,即选C。
3. “Do you think he is lazy?” “I ________ so once, but I don’t now.”
A. may have thought B. can have thought
C. may think D. might think
答案选A。
