First thing - MOST ABSOLUTE FAVORITE book. It was so sad when Stormkit was named Crookedkit because of his crooked jaw. Such a stupid mother could not see past Crookedkit's broken jaw into the great cat he was. I think that Crookedkit's personality changed as he grew up because off this, though despite his shunning he still made an outstanding leader. Only 2-5 cats in the story showed him REAL sympathy in my opinion: Crookedkit's mate, father, and brother, and the loners he met on his way to Moonstone. Crookekit had so much bad luck as a kit/apprentice/warrior/leader. I thought the friends he made along the way where amazing, and the book had me in tears AT LEAST 3-4 times. The plot was VERY well played out, planned, and not rushed. The book did not have any unnecessary events that would just fill pages *cough* Cloudstar's Journey *cough*. Overall I would recommend the book, especially to people who feel the Warriors Series aren't strong enough, this one is up there in a good book list for you, along with Bluestar's Prophecy. Amazing, worth the money, and a fun read. Keep up the good work!
I'll admit that I'm a sucker for Riverclan, so after reading Bluestar's Prophecy I really wanted to know what else was going on across the river from Thunderclan's territory and this version did not disappoint!
We open to a storm washing away Riverclan's camp, setting the scene for the birth of our titular character and his littermate. The book follows his entire life, from his dramatic birth, through the tragedies and successes of his life, and all the way to his journey to Starclan.
I found this book very satisfying to read. My only complaint is the cuts between the vital events of the book. I would have really liked to have read a little more about the down time and experienced some more character development, but I realize that this is already a long book (for this series) and adding more character development for so many characters would have made the book MUCH longer.
Overall I'm happy to have read this one and hopefully we'll get more character development in further books.
Order received Have not read yet because I wish to read in order. however all these books I have read are very good and both my kids like the stories. I have a 17 year old who loves the books and she reads them nonstop. My 8 year old has just been introduced to the stories and he dived right in with me and read to each other. I started him out with the first book about Rusty becoming Firepaw.
This was an amazing read, Poor Crookedstar. I really felt the pain he had to go through, the part where he broke his jaw, I can honestly feel his pain. Since I broken my big toe once, I knew that the pain he experienced must've been extremely unpleasant. Then, what's worse then breaking your jaw? Being rejected by your own mother! Ontop of all that, he suddenly felt alone in his own clan! Enough to force him to run away! Which reminded me of Ravenpaw, except Crookedstar came back. Overall, I'm proud to have this in my collection.
Love the Warriors series I hope they don't ever stop coming. This story puts you in River Clan and the heart strings are tugged for a cat that you would never thought you could have good feelings for (after all he is leader to Thunderclan' s rival clan). I won't give anymore away but this is a great read.
