Tornado Slim is just your regular cowboy . . . until the day he meets the coyote. The coyote gives Slim his special hat and asks him to deliver a letter to the sheriff of Fire Gulch City. Slim has never been to Fire Gulch City, but he figures he can handle it. As Slim travels from town to town, disaster seems to follow. Pretty soon Slim learns that his new hat is NOT your average cowboy hat. Will Slim ever make it to Fire Gulch City? And what did the wily coyote put down in that letter, anyway? Watercolor illustrations add lively humor to this original tall tale.

Excellent story! The words flowed well. The pictures were great. This story kept my 4 year old sons attention the whole time. Being from the south I liked the southern wording. This is the kind of story telling I miss and is hard to find these days. Excellent writing! I highly recommend.

Usually children's books are just a chore to go through each evening as I read a story to my 5 year old before bedtime each night. However, a little over a year ago we came across Tornado Slim through my son's Amazon Freetime account. He loved it and so did I. In fact, we loved it so much that we went ahead and bought the book so that he would never lose access to it. To me, other than some of the Christian Children books we own, this is by far the best children's book I have read in some time.

This was a fun story to read to my 6 year old son.
He enjoyed it. However, the end confused him, so I had to explain it to him.

I originally bought this for my 7-yr old to read for a road trip, which he couldn't do. When we got to the destination I saw why. Lots of misspellings & terms to make it sound like a southern accent "I sure do 'preciate it, pard'ner." He did like the story when I read it to him, and the terms really enhance the tale, but it was not on his level.

Slim gets a special hat from a coyote and a letter to deliver to the sheriff of I distant town. Crazy things happen on his way there, but the hat makes him a hero. And a little life lesson...your trials along the way help prepare you for your next adventures.
