This book is really cute. It's focus is on crisp, clear pictures of rainforest animals.
Sadly, it is not focused on sloths. My daughter loves sloths, and was disappointed that they weren't featured more prominently. There are a few pictures of sloths, but they are interspersed amongst other rainforest animals. There is also not a lot of information about the animals. This book is basic, and meant for younger readers. I think that 2 to 4 year olds would appreciate the book, and children of any age would appreciate the beautiful pictures.
My 2 year old LOVES this entire series of Nat. Geo Readers... I have purchased about 25 different titles, "pre-readers" as well as Level 1 & 2 readers. She loves them all & will ask for certain ones. The "pre-readers" level books are extremely simple & great because she memorizes the words & can "read" it herself. We love the more advanced ones too, because there is more information to talk about. I have learned quite a few facts, myself!) What a great series. The price is reasonable & pictures are great. These are really getting her interested in nature, animals & science... I will continue to buy these as they are released, for our collection!
Nice pictures, my 1&1/2 y.o. really likes to look through the pages. The vast majority of children's books have pictures which have cartoon characters and sometimes the kids can't recognize an animal in real life. This one has real photos, so there is no confusion about how exactly the animal looks like - wonderful!
Prob should have don't more research. One sentence per page / shared page. Great pictures. Not good for meaningful text.
