Situation is new, but there is damage.
It's alright, but not a lot to do with it and it's quite big.
My grandkids adore Maisy!
we just got this book, but compared to maisy's house and garden and maisy's farm (both pop up and play sets), this one is just not as nice. it includes tallulah, cyril, charley, and maisy, but no eddie. also included are two horses and a cannon(?). but that's it.
as far as the pop-up castle, i noticed the cardboard used is more flimsy than in the older play sets. i wish lucy cousins had made this castle more like the house and garden set with multiple rooms. that would have been super neat. there are a few pages to the story that precedes the castle part, but nothing that exciting (to me, anyway). (the other sets had a little mini book which i really liked.) there are no ribbons for keeping the book closed when not in use either, but that is a minor point.
i would recommend laminating the characters so that they last longer.
as a point of comparison, with the other play sets, we got all kinds of accessories (kitchen stuff, blanket, tv, vegetables, animals, etc.). those are way cooler, but of course, they are now out of print.
as it stands, i'd give this newest play set just 3 stars.
I love the Maisy series but this activity book doesn't do it for me or my granddaughter. There is a very limited story and the pop-out castle is rather unusual. The play pieces are OK but the whole thing is just too cumbersome to deal with. Younger children will more than likely trash the castle and you won't be able to fold it back into the book and older children won't be that interested in this play book. I might pass on this one....
