A very interesting story. I loved it and thought it was fascinating. My 9 yr old enjoyed it as well. However, the writing is pretty small on the Kindle, my husband couldn't make it out. It would do well to allow zooming if you insist on such a small font. That being said, I enjoyed the story and we all enjoyed the artwork.

This was a charming retelling of the true story of how a real giraffe traveled to Paris. The combination of the tale and the drawings and explanations of the objects and people involved gives it a two part experience. After reading it I wanted more, and searched for more information on Belle, the giraffe and the events of her time period. It tells of a delightful gift that entertains and informs both children and adults.

This book is clearly aimed at very young children, but I think it's multi-level. The younger kids like the pictures, the older kids like the story, and the oldest ones actually catch onto the historical facts! Overall it's very well presented.

My daughter, who loves giraffes, was facinated with this book (7 yrs old) and I actually enjoyed it too. Amazingly engaging for a child's book. It also had a good deal of vocabulary that created "teachable moments" and showed some creative problem solving skills! Great book for a classroom too!
