For such a little workbook I thought this line was a little pricey but my 4yo, who I was definitely NOT planning on schooling this year insisted on having her OWN school books. I found the first three at a major retailer everyone says is French and has a big red bulls eye logo and ordred the rest of the series here at Amazon. We are still working through these and have gone on to purchase some of the larger size ones as well.
My 4yo LOVES these books!!! She has made huge strides in her fine motor skills and loves to share her little creations with friends and family. Buy them all.
Not really geared to 2 year olds but 5 and up entertained very nicely.
I adored the cutting books in this series, so I bought the folding books as well. Some of the book was good but the rest of the book was just not that great. I think you really need to buy both folding books and then order all the projects from simplest to hardest. Personally, I find folding a corner to be easier than folding a page in half (but I do not know how a 2-year-old feels yet.)
What I did like: 1. creative visual surprises, 2. revealing what animal made tracks, 3. relatively good scaffolding of difficulty and much better than first book, 4. humor and images is age appropriate and engaging, 5. teaches both mountain and valley folds and even practices both on the same page, and 6. includes some harder origami at the end of the book setting kids up to be able to do real beginners origami next.
What I did not like: 1. Some of the folding projects made an animal make angry/scary faces (or happy depending on the folding). I preferred the happy version obviously, 2. according folding should come before the "moving" story (a number of folds that had to go in the right order to make a folded flip book). 3. the book did not include the origami house being made on the front cover, 4. the projects did not really blow me away, and 5. the 2-book series seemed a bit short. Surely there was a lot more they could have done to scaffold without being as repetitious.
Not sure why this is called "More" Let's Fold since it's really just a volume 2 of the original Le'ts Fold. It does not go over more advanced folds or anything like that. And it's a real shame because these two are the only folding books that Kumon publishes. I wish that Let's Fold covered more basic folds and then More Let's Fold went on to more advanced folds. Each book is so short that it really doesn't allow the child to learn and master one fold before moving on to a more difficult fold.
my boys love the folding book - it's basic (and i mean BASIC) origami. but since they're not yet 2, they have a while before they can get through the book as the designs become progressively more intricate. very entertaining.
