作者简介Theodor Seuss Geisel -- better known to millions of his fans as Dr. Seuss -- was born the son of a park superintendent in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1904. After studying at Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, and later at Oxford University in England, he became a magazine humorist and cartoonist, and an advertising man. He soon turned his many talents to writing children's books, and his first book -- And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street -- was published in 1937. His greatest claim to fame was the one and only The Cat in the Hat, published in 1957, the first of a hugely successful range of early learning books known as Beginner Books.

A lot of schools celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday and most of those have a "Wacky Wednesday", well what better book to read that day?!? It's a great book to encourage critical thinking skills as students help identify all the wacky things going on page by page, plus the number of wacky things increases each picture: "I looked out the window. And I said, GEE! More things were wacky! And I saw THREE".
It's even more fun to copy some of the ideas all over the classroom or at home. My students love it when they see the shoe on the wall! Like most other Seuss classics, the rhyming flows smoothly, the story is a joy to read, and kids love listening to the book!
my daughters favorite book! its fun to read and can be interactive. my daughter looks for all the things that are wacky. it build on reading and vocabulary skills and meets educational requirements. (i have an associates in early childhood education)
I do love it and so do the first graders I mentor in reading. Wacky Wednesday arrived in perfect condition, well packaged, and very quickly. My old Wacky Wednesday disappeared when I left it at our school for other volunteer reading mentors to use. This new "Wacky" is in far better condition than the old. The young readers will love searching to find out what's "wacky" on each new page, right up to twenty at the end of the day.
This book is fun, but it would be MORE fun if it didn't repeat the same kind of "wacky" things. On one page there is a shoe on the ceiling. Funny. However, many subsequent pages have shoes on the ceiling or places they shouldn't be. Not as funny. The element of surprise is what is the most fun, but this book repeats so many of the wacky elements, that it takes away some of the fun for the kids. I can see them lose interest and look only for things they haven't seen before.
I found out my daughter's preschool class read this book, so I decided to buy it for my daughter for xmas. I was very pleasantly surprised! It is an entertaining and funny book, and requires a bit of observation, kind of like a look and find. Every page is a new scene with wacky things in it. My kids (3 yr old and 7 yr old) LOVE reading this book and finding all the wacky things on each page.
