作者简介

Theodor Seuss Geisel -- better known to millions of his fans as Dr. Seuss -- was born the son of a park superintendent in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1904. After studying at Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, and later at Oxford University in England, he became a magazine humorist and cartoonist, and an advertising man. He soon turned his many talents to writing children's books, and his first book -- And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street -- was published in 1937. His greatest claim to fame was the one and only The Cat in the Hat, published in 1957, the first of a hugely successful range of early learning books known as Beginner Books.

I purchased this book for a baby shower as one of my gifts because when my daughter was a little girl who is now 34 LOVED this book. Any time it was reading time that book had to be read first. She had it memorized until she could read and then she would read it to anyone who would listen. She had done the same thing I had done when she read it and that was to make her voice exciting and expressive. It was her most favorite books.

Great classic hard to find in stores. Read and memorized at bedtimes by tired moms and dads. Great vocabulary builder!

Another of my favorite books as a kid. While I had ALL of the Dr. Seuss books, this was my favorite, so I HAD to buy it for my new neice.

My children had this book when they were young and I just bought it again for our youngest grandchild. Years ago, we read it together so many times that my daughters and I laughed as we could still recite the words from memory. "Come inside Mr. Bird, said the mouse .... I'll show you what there is in a people house..." Of all of the children's books we had, this one surely stands out as a favorite. I was delighted to find it again.
