Immense从词根上说是不能测量的意思,所以就是十分巨大。
在托福中对应的单词有great,huge,vast,
副词形式immensely 是非常的意思,对应的单词是extremely。
这个单词让我觉得真是长着一个“大众面”,觉得很多单词和它相似,让我想起一系列的单词。
首先是令我想起Commence(开始),有趣的是毕业典礼居然是commencement,毕业才是人生的开始啊,真是有深意。
接着我又想起Menace(威胁),某位大佬说这个单词是一个men在打牌时出了一张ace所以很有威胁。
最后我又想起Imminent (即将到来)这个单词。
