Part II Arriving for dinner 赴晚宴

PETER: Do ⑤ come through.

DAPHNE: You must be Maria. It's nice to meet you.

MARIA: Thank you for inviting us.

DAPHNE: Oh, don't be silly.

JENS: Mrs O'Donnell, my name is Jens Foss.

DAPHNE: Nice to meet you, Jens. You must call me Daphne.

JENS: Thank you for welcoming us to your lovely home.

DAPHNE: Oh, this is too kind, really. Peter, you should have told them it's only a little supper.

PETER: Ah, not to worry!

DAPHNE: I'm afraid this is typical of Peter. Please, do sit down.

PETER: It doesn't matter. The important thing is you're here now.

DAPHNE: Did you ⑥have trouble finding us?

JENS: Not really. Sorry, are we late?

PETER: Drink?

彼得: 快请进。

达夫妮: 你一定是玛丽亚吧。非常高兴见到你。

玛丽亚: 感谢您邀请我们。

JENS: Mrs. O'Donnell. Very nice to meet you.

DAPHNE: Thank you. Please do sit down.

MARIA: I'm sorry. We seem to be too formal.

DAPHNE: Oh, don't worry.

JENS: May I...?

PETER: Let me... Thanks. Maria, what can I get you to drink? A beer, or a glass of wine?

MARIA: A glass of wine would be nice.

PETER: Red or white?

MARIA: Red, please.

PETER: And Jens?

JENS: A beer, please.

DAPHNE: Can I open your presents?

MARIA: Of course.

DAPHNE: It's just like Christmas. So, how's your stay in England going, Maria?

PETER: Fine. Everybody's ⑦made me very welcome.

DAPHNE: Oh, look Peter. It's beautiful.

PETER: Isn't it? That's very kind of you, Maria.

MARIA: It's a pleasure. They make this type of pottery near my hometown.

PETER: Do they? It's beautiful...(offering a beer) Jens?
