内容有点暴力导向,画面可能不那么美好
I have a read a few other books from this author, and I loved them when I was younger, so I knew I had to get some for my own children.
My kids and I absolutely LOVE these books! Ted Arnold's illustrations are both entertaining and fantastic. I love the little squiggles and the puns he adds to the book. The story is also great for helping explain rhyming to my children. They find the stories hilarious, and we have already read these many times since owning them. I know it is one we will keep coming back to. I definitely think that the first book is the best out of the trio, but this second is pretty cute as well. I did end up returning the third as it did not really follow the same pattern as the first two and used words like 'stupid' that we do not use in out house.
Overall, It is a cute explanation to the questions kids may have about themselves as they are growing that you don't often think to explain, and the drawings just add even more to the humor. I would definitely recommend this book to others, you will not be disappointed.
I heard this book read at our school library. The children enjoyed the fun literal interpretation of common idioms. I bought it to read to my grandchildren, some of whom are on the autism spectrum. It's a good reminder for this grandmother, who often uses idioms and colloquialisms, just how she might be heard by people who think in literal imagery.
I have never read a book over and over like this EXCEPT for PARTS! The humor is adorable and makes so much sense. Tedd Arnold clearly knows his audience (be sure to check out PARTS--the first book). And, as a parent, I love, love to put on voices and read this story. I also enjoy stories that allow us to extend the experience and talk about the words and phrases we use and what they mean. My 3 and 5-year-old love these books and even better, mama never tires of reading them.
I work with kids and the book is well loved--the drawings are hillarious and the idea is truly fabulous, as many young children do go through at least a brief period of literal thinking where they aren't sure whether what they'd heard is indeed what they think they heard... However, I didn't find the rhyming to be nessecary and in some ways it detracted from the fun. The children certainly didn't listen to it and were far more focused (as well they should've been...) on the funny funny drawings and the wonderful concept of the boy making so many misinterpretations of the adults' speech around him and toward him.
Lovely book overal.
Recommended.
