From Publishers Weekly
In this moralistic fable, the overworked and underappreciated Mrs. Piggott leaves her swinish husband and two sons to fend for themselves, and they literally turn into pigs. Ages 4-8.

* Anthony Browne is rightly regarded as one of the world's leading
picturebook creators. He lives in England with his wife and two children.
* He has won awards in many countries, including the Kate Greenaway Medal
of England for GORILLA and ZOO, and the Kurt Maschler Award of Germany for
GORILLA.
* His inspiration for GORILLA came from a combination of things -- a
greeting card he'd designed of a huge macho gorilla holding a teddy bear, a
very lonely boy he knew whose father lived in New Zealand, his own fascination
with gorillas.
* The behavior of a real family provided the idea for PIGGYBOOK (not his
own, however!) When the book was completed, he presented the family with a
copy, without comment. But they didn't see any relevance to themselves!

I can't tell you how many times I've given this book away.
Every family needs to be reminded that mom is a person to.
I have read this in classes, shared it in e-mails, and sung its praises to strangers.
The cover says it all.
Great book to add to my classroom collection.
illustrations bring home the message and the story is eternal; anthony browne knows families. this is also great for reading out loud to adults and children
Great book for children of all ages. This is not just for girls, boys can (and should)learn from it too.
A great Mother's Day read for elementary aged children. Besides being entertaining, it delivers a great message. A must have for all families and elementary classrooms!
