While the large-size book is sprinkled lightly with poems (by the likes of Eve Merriam, Jack Prelutsky et al.), many of its pages are given over to ingenious wordplay. One poem is composed from names found in a Toronto telephone directory: "Liddle Mees Muffitt/ Saa Tonner Tufford/ Eaton Herr Corzon Waye"; another reasons that since "the plural of that is those," is "the plural of rat then rose?" Cheese's quirky watercolors with their mustached men and frizzle-haired girls vary considerably in complexity and design, but are energetic and cheerfully action-filled. Ages 7-10.

From School Library Journal Grade 1-5?Although Alvin Schwartz seems to have a virtual monopoly on children's books demonstrating the peculiarities and foolishness of the English language, there is certainly room on the shelves for Walking the Bridge of Your Nose. Rosen has chosen an attractive mixture of puns, tongue twisters, riddles, sayings, and chants that he promises will leave readers "...baffled, bamfoozled, bewitched, and bedazzled." Some rhymes are familiar, some are not; most are taken from sources that are no longer in print. The selections are scattered across oversized pages and embellished with bright, childlike illustrations that catch the humor and hint at the solutions to the riddles.
