内容简介 From acquisition to waste management, fuel to fittings, this book contains everything you need to know about sprogs (okay, kids) and, most importantly, how to tell the difference between a good sprog (kind to animals, nice smell of soap) and a bad sprog (sticky hair, smelly feet, animals are frightened). Lively, fun, and irreverent, Babette Cole’s books for children offer a hilariously fresh look at the ludicrous side of life. Winner of the prestigious Kurt Maschler Award, Cole is the author of such favorites as The Hairy Book, The Slimy Book, The Trouble With . . . books, Dr. Dog, Princess Smartypants, and The Bad Good Book of Manners.
作者简介 Babette Cole is filled with a zest for life. She lives in the English countryside but travels extensively to exotic parts of the world and also round this country, visiting schools and meeting children. Babett is the author of many classic and wonderfully anarchic picture books for children including Drop Dead, winner of the Kurt Maschler Award.

Babette Cole “produces zany, comical images of exuberant and eccentric characters that break down taboos.”

专业书评 From Booklist

K-Gr. 3. Using a similar format to that of her books on reproduction (Mommy Laid an Egg, 1992) and puberty (Hair in Funny Places, 2000), Cole addresses general health for kids, referring to the latter by the British slang term sprog. She focuses on the body's various systems, offering tips on proper body maintenance. On most pages, the good sprog's behavior is contrasted with the bad sprog's behavior. For example, good sprogs eat all sorts of healthy things, while bad sprogs clog up their digestive systems with sludge. A diagram shows the muscles of the good sprog, but bad sprogs are actually big bags of gel. Cole's hilarious watercolors are the real attraction: no one draws nasty kids and bemused pets like she does. The information imparted may be slight, but the inspired silliness makes the book worth opening, and it may lead kids to further explorations on the topic. Todd Morning
